Happy Black History Month! I hope that each and everyone of you reading this will be taking the time to celebrate this month with your families regardless of your racial background. Black History Month is so much more than just a holiday for African Americans. It's an opportunity to teach your children about the world and society they live in.
It's a chance to celebrate the legacies that have been passed down to us from leaders like Fredrick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, Angela Davis, Martin Luther King, Jr and so many more. Most importantly Black History Month is a celebration of freedom. There's so much that we take for granted now days. Some of us walk around with entitlement attitudes like the world owes us something.
Well, not too long ago our parents, grandparents, great grandparents and beyond had to fight for the simple freedoms that we seem to dismiss and overlook on a daily basis. For me and my multiracial household this month is about self reflection and looking at what me and mine are doing to make this world a better and more unified place so that our future generations can continue to enjoy the freedoms that we have today. Our children are our futures and if we don't teach them about the past, how can we expect them to move forward? So, let's get to celebrating!
This post just gave me a goid idea for a Black Histiry Month post if mine but with a twist!
