Fashion Find: Chic Chanta

We had no clue that Moo was a girl until I delivered her.  While I didn't have a preference either way, I was overjoyed when my OB said "It's a girl!"  For months we had been avoiding gender specific purchases.  It felt good to now be able to buy something that screamed little girl.  So, one of the first things I got were some super cute clip-in bows.

Little did I know, my Moo was not a bows and dresses type of girl.  Nope. Not one bit.  She was into basketballs (still is), getting dirty and rocking pants and sneakers.  Every time I would even remotely try to get a hair bow anywhere near her, she would have a fit or snatch it out.  Then last year right before her birthday something happened.

All of sudden she had an interest in dresses and started requesting me to buy her some hair accessories.  By this time, I had started watching Toddlers and Tiaras and was totally into the whole over the top look of the pageant style bows.  So, I was beyond thrilled when Christina from over at Being Mrs Jones announced that she was opening an Etsy shop, Chic Chanta.  If you all don't already know, Christina is a woman of many talents.  She balances motherhood, graphic designing and now designing bows!

Moo's Bows
Moo hasn't been able to be apart from her bows since they came in the mail( and the was a while back). Whenever we go somewhere she's always asking to wear her "special bows."  And don't worry, if your mini me isn't quite into bow yet because Christina also creates and lists jewelry on Chic Chanta too!  So that means you can splurge on a few items for yourself as well.  Below are a few of my favorites from her bracelet selections.

The gold beads really make it pop!
Loving the peaceful blue!
Doesn't this scream UNIQUE?!

If you haven't been by Chic Chanta, I encourage you to head on over and check out her selection.  She has a quite a few bows up that are perfect to sport this fall.  I'm already looking to see what she's going to design for Christmas.  And if you don't see anything that catches your eye, she'll be more than happy to custom create something for you!

Happy shopping!!

HEELYS Is Back

HEELYS is back!!  And this time they have styles that the entire family can enjoy.  Long gone are the days when HEELYS were just for kids.  They recently unveiled their Fall 2012 collection and I love it!  In fact, I actually had the opportunity to review one of their latest styles for women.

How cute are these?!!
Move over red bottoms, I'm totally loving my new pink bottomed HEELYS Joggers.  Seriously, I've worn these cuties almost everyday since the FedEx truck dropped them off.  And yes, the wheels are removable.  And while we're on the subject of the wheels, I highly recommend that you practice in your kitchen or on a hard surface if you are going to wear them with the wheels in.  It does take a bit of practice to get the hang of gliding while balancing your weight on your heels, but once you got it, it's smooth sailing.

Pink Bottoms!! Pretty!!
What I really love most about the Jogger is that it's girly but with still has an athletic look.  This is perfect for my tomboy side.  The contrast of the black and charcoal with the detailing and silver HEELYS logo is a perfect color combination.  And I love that when the wheels aren't in, there's a black cover that I can snap in place.  Who likes walking around with a hole in the bottom of their shoes? I don't!

Overall, I'm very pleased my new addition to my shoe collection.  HEELYS has done a wonderful job of revamping their line.  If you're an athletic mom or have an active family then you might want to put a few of these on under the tree for Christmas.  Check out a few of the other styles I liked.

Fashion Find: Old Navy Shorts

I was never a shorts person growing up.  In fact, it wasn't until a trip to New York during my second year in college that I started to get into shorts.  A group of friends and I were had just left a donut shop when one of them suggested we duck into the Old Navy next door to kill a few minutes.  Before this trip I'd only been to an Old Navy store twice!

Shocking isn't it?  But in my defense, I grew up in a town where we had a Walmart, Catos, B. C Moore's and everything else was fast food restaurants and grocery stores.  And the nearest mall had Wet Seal and Rave.  Anyways, it was at this Old Navy in New York that my interest not only the brand but in wearing shorts began to grow.

I remember that I found the cutest khaki floral pattern shorts.  I had to try them on.  Sadly, the inseam was too high and the shorts and I parted ways.  Well, this past weekend I headed back to Old Navy in search for the perfect pair of shorts to kick off my Mother's Day celebration.  And I found these cuties below.

Shorts: Old Navy Women's Linen Drawstring  5" inseam Top: Basic Editions (thrifted)  Shoes: Target (gifted)  Eyeglasses: CoverGirl

Here's a better look
After wearing these all day Saturday, I am in love.  These will certainly be thrown into my wardrobe rotation.  The linen fabric is very light and breathable.  The relaxed fit made me feel comfortable that everything was covered in the booty area.  Love, love the drawstring detail.  I just have this thing for clothing with drawstrings or drawstring style belts.

The scoop pockets look small in the picture above but I was able to fit my EVO in there sideways.  And it didn't fall out when I sat.  Aside from the wrinkling, I have nothing negative to say about these shorts.  Linen is one of those easy to wrinkle fabrics but that doesn't take away from the fact that Old Navy has a home run with these shorts.

Go, check these out if you haven't.  I will be going back for the white pair!  Here a few of my other favorite shorts.

Stepping into Fall

One of my new favorite online spots shop for shoes is Infinity Shoes.  They have the latest trends and styles from brands we all know and love.  And what's even better is that they have pretty decent clearance.  And now they're offering Free Shipping on all orders thru September 30th with coupon code LSFREESHIP.

Anyways, it's been a while since I've updated my shoes.  I'm not the only one who noticed either.  I was putting on a pair of slip on loafers the other day and my husband said, "Isn't it time for another pair?"  What can I say, I like to get all my wear out of my shoes.    So, here are some lovelies that I'm debating about adding to my fall shoe rotation.

And of course, I couldn't help but look shoes for my love too.  He's a little bit less rough on his shoes but with his birthday coming up, I'm thinking that he might like one of the following choices below.  I'm certainly going to get him the bedroom slippers because he has a blue pair that are past by worn out.

And when it comes to dress shoes, he hasn't gotten a new pair since I've met him.  The sneakers are True Religion but I'm leaning more towards the loafers because I've never seen him a pair and want to revamp his look a little bit.

So, what do you all think?

Print Craze

Lately, I've been super crazy about prints. I'll admit that my wardrobe is a little blah.  And that just doesn't fly for me.  I'm a fashionista and fashion student. I can't be walking about in all black from head to toe.

So, since I'm revamping my wardrobe (gotta keep it haute), I'm thinking that the best way to incorporate more color is by getting a few bold and unique print pieces.  And you all know me...  I'm not about to break the bank.  That's exactly why I was happy to hear about some of the great deals going on at deLias like:

And here is a sneak peak at some of the items you can expect to see me sporting.  Yea, you can expect more fashion & beauty posts with pics coming soon.  Now on to the clothes.

What do you think of my selections?  Pretty good start huh?

Summer Savings

Well, we're in the thick of summer. The weather is hot.  Dust has been blown off the grills.  Now, all that's left for many of us is to update our summer attire.  Thankfully, being the frugal fashionista that I am, I was able to track down these lovely deals from Sean John, RocaWear and Dereon.  Enjoy and happy shopping!

Fashion Find: Preparing for Summer

Summer is right around the corner and besides my giving birth, I'm looking forward to hitting up a pool and/or the beach!!  And what better way to get motivated to get back into bathing suit worthy shape than by bathing suit shopping for the entire family.  I was glad when I heard that Hanna Anderson was having a sale on their swim wear.
